Il mio intento all’inizio di questo progetto è stato quello di creare una sorta di doppia anatomia, dando vita ad un gioco tra realtà ed apparenza della figura umana.
Ho iniziato fotografando queste riproduzioni anatomiche di cera per poi trasformarle sovrapponendole a ritratti formali dei soggetti che ho scelto, in base ai loro particolari lineamenti. Profili contemporanei ma grotteschi e classici allo stesso tempo che ricordano per me proprio quelle degli studi anatomici. Persone normali che come tutti rappresentano chi potremmo incontrare ogni giorno.
Il passo successivo è stato quello di allargare la mia ricerca, allargare l’inquadratura, andare piu a fondo, guardare letteralmente attraverso i corpi, dietro i volti.
Mettendoli a nudo, spogliandoli dei loro vestiti ho voluto che queste persone si lasciassero vedere per quello che veramente sono. Muscoli, organi, vene ed arterie che affiorano da lembi di pelle mostrano una trasparenza della carne che va al di la dell’essere, al di la dell’animo. Le caratteristiche di queste persone si fondono con uno strato vivo, quello che non si vede ma c’è. Spogliando in questo senso le persone potremmo ammirare la loro vera natura conservata sotto vetro, come attraverso una teca. Oltre la vita di sempre, quella che scorre e che pulsa dentro ogni essere vivente.

This project was, at the beginning, an attempt to create a sort of double anatomy, giving life to a game between reality and appearance of the human body. I started photographing a group of wax anatomic models, transforming them and overlapping them later to formal portraits of subjects that I specifically selected and photographed because of their particular features. Their profiles, contemporary ones, but at the same time classic and grotesque, reminded me the profiles of the anatomical studies. Regular people like everyone else that could represent the people we meet everyday.
The second stage of my research was to extend my outlook, extending the framing, going deeper, literally looking through the human body, behind its faces. Baring the bodies of my models, stripping their clothes off, I wanted to let them being seen as what they really are. The muscles, organs, veins, arteries that emerge from the strips of skin, show us a transparency of the flesh that goes beyond the physical being, beyond the soul, and the features of these persons merge with a living layer that can’t be seen but exists. Undressing people in this particular way, allow us to admire their true nature –bottled preserved– as shown through a display case. Beyond everyday’s life, the life that flows and beats inside every human being.
