Melanie Pullen, born in New York in 1975, now lives and works in California. Her work 'High Fashion Crime Scenes' is currently on show at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills through August, 2005. Founded in 1961, the Ace Gallery has in the past shown some now very famous names in art, among them photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. Earlier in the year About Photography had a brief note on her work and on her own High Fashion Crime Scenes site. In it I noted "Her work has some similarities with the staged documentary of Philip Lorca diCorcia and Cindy Sherman, but is distinguished by a closer link to both photographic tradition and commercial photographic practice, as well as a somewhat surreal sense of humour. "
